Hello, I came to your blog through BecomingSarah blog, and just wanted to say your comment on spanking was RIGHT ON. In that crowd, I tend to be the only *mean* mother, so I do more lurking than commenting to not start WWIII, but I'm glad you spoke up.
Wow! Thank you so much for telling me! That's really encouraging. I knew I was going to open up a can of worms when I said something, but I felt like I just had to. The political correctness at the expense of common sense drives me crazy. I actually decided to stop following BecomingSarah because I just couldn't take it anymore! lol. Thank you again.
And I clicked on your profile and see that you love LOTR and Ender! A kindred spirit indeed! Awesome.
I could HUG both of you guys! We were really thrown to the wolves there, huh? All of us abusive mothers... :-) Thank you so much for the encouraging comment on my blog... I can't tell you how much it's driven me crazy since. I felt like such a nut getting worked up about some comments on a blog. I haven't been back to it since because i can't bring myself to even entertain the thought -- being violent to my child? Really?? Lol, I felt like saying... wow, if your kid is going to really emotionally fall to peices because his mommy gave him a pat on the rear, than he has no chance of surviving middle school! :-P You rock.
You two are awesome. I put one foot out of Sarah's door after the whole Christmas present business, and the other foot out with the spanking post. I respect a parent who chooses not to spank, but a swat on the bottom is not abuse, for Pete's sake!
I don't think either of you are Catholic (no one is perfect), but check out this post for a great take on Christian vs Secular love: http://littlecatholicbubble.blogspot.com/2011/01/is-christian-love-gibberish.html I think this applies to the modern view of the "child commodity", and how we treat our children in a society of moral relativism.

Ok. Enough of my deep thoughts.
